Will your Windows game run on a Mac?

Straight answers for Apple Silicon Macs. Every claim on these pages links to its source, and a game is only marked as working after we've actually played it with Grapple. Testing has just started, so most games here carry an expectation from their DirectX version and anti-cheat, not a result — and you can settle one yourself in an evening.

Works

Played on a real Mac with Grapple: it installs, launches, runs for 15+ minutes and saves.

Runs with issues

Tested and playable, but something doesn't work — the test record says exactly what.

Likely to work — not tested yet

DirectX 9 to 12 and no kernel-level anti-cheat: the case Grapple is built for. DirectX 12 runs through D3DMetal, which ships with Grapple. An expectation, not a result — try it yourself and tell us.

Unknown — not tested yet

The publisher doesn't list a DirectX version, so we won't guess. Running it once tells us more than any spec sheet.

Won't run

Kernel-level anti-cheat. No Wine-based tool can load a Windows kernel driver, and no Grapple setting changes that.

The first two labels come from a test run. The rest are expectations we derive from published facts — useful for deciding what to try, never a promise. Untested pages stay out of search results until a real test backs them.

How testing works

Played, not guessed.

1

A real Mac, a clean install

Each game gets a fresh, isolated Windows environment on an Apple Silicon Mac. We record the Mac model, chip, memory, macOS and Grapple versions, plus the engine version and graphics layer used.

2

The same checklist every time

Install, launch, main menu, 15 minutes of play, audio, controller, and saving and loading. Frame rates come from Apple's Metal HUD — measured, never estimated.

3

Settings you can copy

If a game needs a different graphics layer or a tweak, the page lists the exact Grapple setting we used.

4

Blocked games, with sources

Games with kernel-level anti-cheat can't run under Wine. We only list them as “won't run” when the publisher or anti-cheat maker documents the block.

Grapple translates DirectX 9 to 12 to Metal: DXMT for DirectX 10 and 11, and Apple's D3DMetal — from the Game Porting Toolkit, included with Grapple — for DirectX 12. Games with kernel-level anti-cheat don't run in any Wine-based tool — read why anti-cheat blocks Mac players.

Tried a game? Tell us what happened

Grapple's Free plan runs one game, forever — exactly enough to settle the game you came here for. It's claimed the first time you play it, launchers and Windows tools don't count towards it, and you can swap it for another game once every 30 days. Install it, play for a bit, and send us what you saw. Every result — working or broken — decides what we test next, and verified results get published here with credit if you want it.

What to send

In those commands, <bottle> is the CLI's term for the Windows environment the game runs in — type its name instead. How to create a diagnostics report — it collects the game's settings, versions and logs into one zip, with your username removed.
